feeeeel good.

it just struck my mind that i had been so irrational in considering the underlying costs of overseas travel.
the right way shud have been done by the lame managerial accounting way which is to measure additional costs. in other words, it means that in a 10 days of holiday, the actual amount spent is really not the cost. it is just the out of pocket costs. in the event of not spending the 10 days of holiday, one will still have to spend a certain amount of money back at home but this amount is frequently omitted in all considerations i just realised. interesting? ok let me do some calculations:

we budget to spend about 1k in Hongkong. that is the out of pocket costs. i know there is opposition that 1k is not possible but we will budget abit more in reality :P now for just the calculations.
we will be spending 15days in HK and outlying areas.
if we were to be in SG for the 15 days..
i would need 2 meals X $4 a day. plus abit of snacks, so we can make it $10/day. that works out to $150 in 15 days in Singapore.
i may need to travel around Singapore for some outings and stuff. make that about $10 maximum in this 15 days since i hide at home most often, right (:
i may need to meet up some friends for dinner/lunch or catch some movies. since this period covers 2 weekends, i will just budget about $20/weekend for entertainment sake. that works to $40 in the 15 days.
at home, i am a sucker for electricity and water since i need to bathe, drink, use the computer, watch tv. my home pub bill hit 200 lately, and 4 ppl in the family(i shall omit any complex nature of breaking the amount down and just assume each one sucks same amount of energy and water) so that means $25/person in 2 weeks.
i shall omit the depreciation costs of the bed and accomodation that i use.
but, if im in SG, i will be available for NDP and that works to about $50 in the 2 rehearsals in the period.
my tuition is inconsequential because i had been doing 3 times a week instead of 2 times a week since 2 weeks back to 'make up' for this period of absence.

okay so that means 1000 - (150 + 10 + 40 + 25) + 50 = 875.

that means that i will essentially be only spending 875 bux extra there! now i feel that i can spend more haha. since the original budget was really 1k right? sounds like a cheap but good way of convincing oneself to stretch the budget :)
