i guess as we grow older, we begin to shed whatever idealism we held on to.
that being the fantasies we had about life.
as if we could fly if we mounted wings onto our backs like angels.
as if we can really do round the world tour and not bother about our life and survival needs
as if we can all grow old together and die together
that being the perfect picture of people we had in our lives.
our parents being the most model adults out there
our teachers being the most righteous and unpolluted people who are our role models
our siblings and relatives who are pure and innocent
the rest of the people being helpful and welcoming
the world being beautiful.

i wish i could be as young as before. not for the wrinkles and dropped hairs that are eating their way into me,
but the way everything is meant to me
i wanted all of it to be kept the way i pictured it to be.
picture perfect.
as time goes by, everything gets revealed that we are just one homogeneous family that in reality, really aint perfect.
no where near.
i guess that's growing up.

Lollipops turn into cigarettes. The innocent ones turn into sluts.
Homework goes in the trash. Mobile phones are being used in class.
Detention becomes suspension. Soda becomes vodka.
Bikes become cars. Kisses turn into sex.
Remember when getting high meant swinging on the playground?
When protection meant wearing a helmet?
When the worst things you could get from boys were cooties?
Dad’s shoulders were the highest place on earth and Mom was your hero?
Your worst enemies were your siblings.
Race issues were about who ran the fastest.
War was only a board game. And the only drug you knew was cough medicine.
The most pain you felt was when you skinned your knees,
and goodbyes only meant until tomorrow?
And we couldn’t wait to grow up?
