the scourge of time is NOT procrastination.

yay long weekend break! pity those in bmt, get only a 1 day break haha, cause of confinement! but they shudnt complain much, they got a break in their confinement week just like us after all!
got lotsa things to settle this weekend though.
ahhh, camp this week was quite slack, got my ippt silver and not want to get gold alr on the 2nd try. got my soc pass, I AM SURE I PASSED IT BUT THE DAMN TIMER SCREWED UP. i ran the race of my life literally, never felt so shag before but yet they din pass me! damn. nvm, i know i passed! got 3 more soc lessons to go, hope i can keep it up and pass the next 3 no matter how shag the feeling is. had our first outfield in TP2E, this shitty place in the middle of lim chu kang area, bounded by expressways. it was raining so beautifully for us to prone on mimosa, prone in clay-ed up mud. great experience though, reminiscent of bmt's jaguar. nvm, it doesnt really affect me badly haha, i really dun mind outfield just e idea of washing up kills. nvm, its over, and more to come for the next 3 weeks. ahh..

anyway, i was staring at this poster along the noticeboard of our company line that day with the usual army guy and the logo "Army- the decisive force" which was so coincidentally placed side by side with a poster reading "SAF review on SAR21 chamber explosion in March 2003". hah, tickles me. anyway im more interested in the efficiency in which the SAF brands itself.
(knowledge required to understand the satirical depiction:
LSM - Leader Sergeant Major
LPS - Leader Platoon Sergeant
LSC - Leader Section COmmander)
patrick was the LPS for the hectic week, and this commanding guy was the LSM, boiling down on his throat every minute, as usual of course. and so it began

the blue door swung open, there stood alvin panting rather heavily. we were all too preoccupied in our stuff than to bother about him standing there, as it was about 30 mins left to lights out. trying frantically to get our attention, he shouted "hey, listen up!" usually, i dun bother about such a situation as it's too common in ns, the LPS bothering you to do stuff, or better still fly down 5 stories just to help carry something that might boost your ocs chances.
"tmr wake up earlier at 5.15 so that can pool together our bedsheets then i can collect to bring it down." alvin said, as he was the bedsheet ic. gd news issn't it, that i dun haf to make my bed anymore! ok our wake up time was 530 for background info.
we continued to do our stuff.
after some 20 mins, patrick came, reminiscent of the panting alvin.
"eh, tmr fall in 5.15" patrick gave us the news. bad news.
"**** la, wad's the ****ing problem!! everyday make us wake up earlier and earlier, it is not even the bloody official fall in time!" my bunkmates shouted in unison, as if objecting our ns draft.
"downstairs tmr got pot of gold issit?" i shot him straight in his face.
patrick, 18 years old, 1 year our junior just meekly managed to say, "its the LSM instructions, he say we fall in earlier den go eat, den draw arms so dun choke timin."
fine.
if that wasnt enough, check this out.
patrick came back few minutes later with another piece of good news.
"listen, tmr fall in with long 4, SBO and helmet because we going for our basic navigation course."
"WHAT IS THEIR PROBLEM, platoon 3 and 4(us) are going to do it after lunch, and we haftheory lessons in the morning! fall in with sbo and helmet to sun them in the parade square?" i shot him again.
fine.
so we woke up at like 450 to sort things out and amazingly, we were the only ones downstairs at 515, watching all the other platoons brushing teeth at that time. wow wonderful. i knew that lsm was aiming our lps. nvm, i just complain beneath my teeth as usual. so we sat down on the parade square like shooting ducks. 540, the LSM came down to allow us to report strength before we got off to the cookhouse. oh so wodnerful, the official fall in time was 545, and everyone else woke up at at 530, and got to cookhouse almost e same time as us. EFFICIENCY.
when we came back, we saw the CDI of the day being reprimanded by a sir. oh, jurisdiction for my early fall in. the CDI den had a good old chat with our LSM.
"platoon 3 and 4 take back sbo and helmet, get ready fall in 845 for theory lesson." our dear lsm said.
THANKS ALOT FOR MAKING ME BRING IT DOWN 5 STORIES.
back in the bunk, patrick came to us again, "fall in earlier abit la, ok? 840 we fall in so 845 can count strength."
ok, suck thumb and accept fate.
"guys, we fall in 5 mins earlier than the LPS given time, make thigns easier for him" my LSC said in our bunk.
ok 10 mins cut just like that.
"fall in 3 minutes!" gosh, i haven even prepared anything, i tot i saw my watch previously that i still had alot of time. heck, pack up and rush down!
we rushed down frantically before i saw the big damn clock in front of the company office reading 830. looking around and complaining as usual, i soon found out the reason. my LSC had his watch tweaked 5 mins earlier to make sure we maintain punctuality.
our lesson starts at 9. great.
puntuality means reaching on time, but it doesnt seem that way in the army.
perhaps we should ask our sir to plan the timetable such that the timing is put forward 15 mins that we dun be late. then people will make us to fall in 5 minutes earlier, and 5 minutes earlier, and another 5.
that is how we spent our ns life.
thanks ns. i know how to be punctual now.
