i find the week very much endurable with ndp as the backdrop. at least im able to be home some days earlier and enjoy some good afternoon nap at home. but its ending.
i find the culture extremely strange in my squadron. we are supposed to be working 8am till 5.30pm. but we never knock off at 5.30pm. we have a last parade at around 5.45pm(average) and end up listening to some crap which is repeated the next day morning brief. so we end at 6pm. how the hell am i supposed to go home and enjoy time at home when i take another 2 damn hours to travel. assume i reach home at 8 after rushing my ass off. i take my dinner, and in order to have enough sleep (8hours - from 945pm - 545am) i rest by 945pm. doing that, i will reach camp next morning by 8am to be greeted with another farce, another promise that the day will end by 5.30pm.
its even stranger that one is not supposed to be seen in bunk/mess/canteen at any other times of the day besides lunch. i mean its logical, but what i actually am refering to is that there's an unwritten rule that we all have to be busy, or at least be acting busy when we have nothing to do. its so hypocritical. i think its damn retarded, or at least its most of us, that we have to do such things. over in the army units(im not proclaiming my allegiance for them thou.) they go to their beds and lay sprawled wide open in the day if there's nothing to do. nothing to do means nothing to do. i cant grapple why is it so much more difficult for a first class airforce to understand a layman logic.
im still counting my days to the big date. my fren last told me its some 50 working days. haha i wonder if we start minimising the countdown to things like working mondays to soothe ourselves. NO. its reaching man, so big an appointment we have that we cannot seem to savour the afterlife. its like almost everyone of us have spent the past year or so in solitary trying to make out what we would wanna do just before, just after and after ord. you get things thrown in such as learn diving, get private pilot license, go on holiday, go backpacking, get a job, give tuition etc. its so exciting. as for me, many people keep asking which uni am i going next year. i still give the same old reply, ntu aerospace engineering. its still so much vague for me to imagine my journey in cambridge or imperial or any where else which the next 1 year may change so im keeping much of the cards to myself for the time being. well maybe at the end of the day i might decide something spectacular, i might decide something simple, i might just be the way yong chuen is.
