it was a fabulous trip with lotsa happenings and stuff but i guess it not that important to have them all out here. i shall summarize bangkok instead.
1. the horrendous traffic - it was my first time zipping through downtown bangkok solely by taxis because it was more economical for 4 of us to share cabs rather than to take the BTS trains. i cant imagine how anyone can practically survive driving in that conditions. lanes switch from forward flow to backward flow at a certain given timing and there are times when someone just start going against the flow of traffic and the world follows, sort of opening up another lane immediately. its absolutely crazy the way the traffic functions even with the watchful eyes of so many traffic marshalls. right turns are executed even from lanes that go straight, left turns executed right when its a red light and u-turned are being made with mindblowing finesse right in the middle of a jammed pack street. you really do not know to applaud this sight or to feel sorry for the government planning departments. in spite, the thais are very confident and patient on the road, unlike local singaporeans who horn at any chap trying to let his passenger alight in the middle of a clear traffic road. wells, and i guess its quite interesting to see that their traffic lights actually have countdown timers like our green men, and it started from sth like 130seconds.. now you really wonder if that's the illustrious bangkok we were all seeking to visit.
2. the sex industry is crazy. can u imagine the most distinctive english words in most of the local bangkok people's vocabulary, esp cab drivers and touts, are pussy, sucking, sex show, pingpong show, fuck show? awe-struck when you actually try to traverse down patpong in search for wonderful eateries in their midst having to grapple with the never-ending monotonous offers for massage, sex, strip show or to enter the sleezy pubs for extra stuff. and yes, if you are ever going to bangkok its almost worth a trip to check out any of their thai girl show, they call it, of using female genital parts to perform tricks. i assure you after watching it, you will never haf the same idea of things ever again, plus, coke will never taste that cool again. yeaps.
3. visibility in the city is odd. it doesnt span more than afew high rise buildings. the air quality in bangkok is terrible, esp in the morning when you travel along their expressways overlooking the city skyline, you will find most of the grandeur overwritten by the smog that plagues the city. no, its almost not morning dew i can assure. it really makes you marvel at the air quality in singapore where clear blue skys never really attracted much before.
4. food is bangkok has always been attractive and marvelous to begin with and this trip was equally gd on the food side. enough said, it should be your own exploration but just to check out some really nice food we ate along the way, enjoy!

eat, shop, eat, shop, sleep. that's prolly all to do in bangkok. we made a short 1 day trip to coral island in pattaya. it was another fabulous experience with nice hilly areas to explore and beaches to haf fun. if you guys got the time, i guess its well worth the trip to visit, thou not as enterprising as desaru/phuket/redang in my opinion. wells!
one more thing, airplane review! the budget terminal was really no frills, if you guys are taking to that, do note that there's absolutely no stuff there, just check in counters, toilets, watercoolers, afew pathetic seats and an expensive Hans eatery. yea.. but dont worry there's a DFS there. ok, the plane was just 3 seats, aisle, 3 seats, quite packed.. basically few stewardess keep pestering with their food tray calls and stuff, nothing much to expect. find your own entertainment and stuff. you cant bring food up.. so wells.. aircon wise, no problem, trying to get to sleep might be a challenge becase of the reclining problem of some seats, their airplanes are definitely not the newest ones.. yea. but other than that, its the cheapest and best way to fly in sginapore that is. compared to other budget airlines in other countries.. it wouldnt be the best in terms of service and stuff i guess.

no matter how you feel abt the way singapore is run or the people with it, or the way we clamour to promote our newater with such zest, this is still what i feel proud and relate to. that's the true pride of singapore. and perhaps after visiting several places already, there are times when you do realise that you cherish singapore more dearly. dont worry, i dont work for STB.
