home run

oh wonderful! i received a nice email today informing me of the interview at rjc this 30th october with some professor from magdelene college, attached to queen's. argh. this email starts to make me eat myself form within.. the process of getting in is just so difficult and sort of 'red-taped'. i need help. i confess.
alright, check this out: "Research Interests: I study modular representations of finite groups... finite symmetric groups and finite groups of Lie type....construction of quivers and indecomposable projective modules in the representation theory of linear algebraic groups, quantum linear groups and Schur algebras. " LIKE HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO IMPRESS? tell him more about quadratic equations or try to impress upon him that i love mechanics. man. help me.

i've heard and witnessed that this year's j2 batch is really in a bad shape in terms of results and stuff. they are quite a confused bunch not knowing what to study, how to study and what is coming. i tell you, this is not their fault, it is the system's. its so clear cut. they have turned maths into some permanent 2 years lectures to teach them how to grapple with the graphic calculator's functions something only fitting for primary school kids with innate mathematics interest. save this group of people!
most of them cant save themselves now. its already the 11th hour and i can still have people coming to me asking me for tuition.. not with the intention of doing well but with the dread of not even making the cut. its so scary. im not superman. i cant turn rotten concepts of 2 years into golden spot on results. sometimes its the truth that hurts. they are not making it. but no, im not leaving them to leave it to chance for their survival. as a teacher, one has to believe in his every student. tat's what i told the interviewer 1 year back. and i will uphold that.
