platter for 2

geez, i cant believe it, i ate 2 seemingly similar seafood buffets in 2 days. gosh. ok first was friday's suki sushi buffet where we spammed tempura stuff, softshell crabs and sashimi. last night, i had Tong Lok seafood ala carte buffet at upper jurong road, just opposite safti mi. sheesh, it was another round of spamming salmon sashimi, crab, prawns and many other good food! i know i know, dun envy me, but i am beginning to regret all the downing of e food esp if next week my unit decides to force me to take an ippt, how am i going to reproduce e results haha. argh! im so screwed. as screwed as i know, i woke up at 10am today with some intention of going for some jog around e neighbourhood only to be overwritten by a new online game my army guys introduced. haha, and so i played it until noon now. i m just so dead. i shall make a resolution here to jog later in the evening. i hope e weather's gd... haha, well, like gd. :p hope i will run.

and so, im well into surviving the start of university for my fellow girl friends, and not diminishing into my malaise of having to serve the nation for 2 years and enter the univeristy with a totally unfamiliar batch of kids :p hah, yea kids. not tat im tat old la, I AM NOT GOING TO BECOME OLD, but i think there's going to be some comm problems, frequency differences. ok like wadever, its still 2 years later -.-
anyways, been receiving quite an amount of feedback from those ppl right in the thick of the action. exciting initiation of a new phase of life journey indefinitely, and there's still uncertainty and vagueness in the route ahead which will sooner or later be unlocked by curiosity. as a bystander, i am, too, enjoying the experiences i have heard but as well as being appalled by the culture shock some of my friends are experiencing in university. Many a time, when youngsters like us reach the gates of university, we see it as an opening for us to gain great friends and a period of superb fun and memories. yes of course, i wud not argue much with that, but i dont see university entry as the holy grail, jurisdicting a partying atmosphere that goes on as much of an extremist behaviour. im even more saddened that such an occurance is happening to the university i am heading to, not that i have special inclination for. i agree with many that there should be a change to a more livily and vibrant atmosphere compared to nus or even smu, however it is simply ridiculous to me that my frens there have at least numerous weekly night outs to drink, go wild until 5am in the morning with lessons the next day, or weekends outings with orientation groups which burn pockets in the holes of many (just that for the name of fun, no one bothers to stand up to it, and i know it, trust me). it is sad. it pains me further to see that there's this sports camp held b4 the start of sch term which only selectively picks 'potential' students to join in the 5 days of fun. however selectively it may be, or how untold of the criteria is, most of us outsiders know the student organisers behind this camp pick those who are good looking and sporty to join this camp. sporty, i understand, but good looking? wad are we trying to achieve here? some matchmakign session? and gosh, you ppl shud check it out that there's already a dinner and dance up and coming for business school for the freshies. maybe it supposed to promote another round of orientation, or perhaps a sort of early graduation from the school. well, it makes sense to push e graduation earlier, since the next 3 years wud be that of getting wasted at 4am, and recovering the next next day just in time for weekends. oh, and lets not forget about the ntu freshie pageant just over at funkygrad, if im nort wrong. my fren's already pestering me to vote for her.
dun get me wrong, im not against such behaviour, but i cant stand it. if my university is to be labelled dull, so be it, i dun give a damn about what others view us. i just want my life to be fun and enjoyable. we all know about the vibrancy nus and smu has, and we are always the underdogs in that aspect, but doing all these shit to catch up is simply trying too hard. it will backfire. my frens in nus are already laughing their ass off at the way ntu ppl are experiencing 'life', how sadly. my fren attempted to defend the actions by saying that such partying atmosphere is only at the start and things will settle down. if it settles down back to dull ntu, do i need to say more about the pathetic attempts to inejct life in ntu? if it doesnt settle down, does it tell u about the vibrancy ntu achieves? well, maybe, provided you see that those expensive outings numerous of times every week are sustainable. 2 weeks down the road, my fren's already complaining about e financial burden of that partying activities, but is still willing to go out in the name of fun. bullshit, fun.
from a fan of nus, smu, to a forced fan of ntu because of my course, it leaves me to slowly let go of that status. soon i will not even be a forced fan of ntu.
