being a worker.
i dont know if you feel the same way, but i abhor people who just wait for time to knock off everyday. if i ever made it to a leadership position, this wud be the first group i will remove, much much ahead of hypocritic people, which apparently every ms universe or friendster profile assumes to hate most. well maybe most of the people i am meeting now are just nsfs in the army without much motivation to work but it just reflects on the work attitude in future. i mean, there's nothing wrong with waiting for time to knock off and go out to enjoy, but with work pending and piling, the damn first thing that still pops up in the mind is just to knock off regardless of the work, den i think something is wrong. i have always been a worker in sec sch, jc, and perhaps even until now and its no disillusion that i know who around me have work attitude and who doesnt. for me, its quite simple. whether im put in this spot or not, as long as in given a work, i will make sure i see it through myself even after asking people for help. it never made sense to me to just keep reminding myself that if i have an off day tomorrow and the work is due tomorrow, im not going to bother about finishing it. its never about recognition for any case if you wondered. i believe in putting the fullest effort for any work tasked, whether it is or is not your obligation, and even more effort to be put in for things that i enjoy doing. i have never shrugged away from the media design stuff that people asked me to do, whether is it from teachers, friends or my unit. it takes pride to step out and do the thing for people if you are proficient in it, it takes even more determination to do things when people whom dont understand your working principles question your intentions. yes, they laugh when perhaps an award eluded you, but they never understood how pathetically poor the award meant in the first place. the award that stood was more of how your work will impact the people around you, making you feel that you were there for a reason. and that's what makes life meaningful, even in the darkest moments. i pity people who work everyday thinking about earning big bucks with the cheapest attitude, knocking off at 5pm not realising what the hell is their reason on earth. is it to earn your bucks and disappear after 70 years of existence? or is it to bother to make an impact in your community and to the people around you, telling them proudly that i came to society to change it, and that's how im going to do it? rather than flowing aimlessly with it? i dunt know how many feel, but to me i think its a very simple equation to remember. life is a simple sum of the reason you are living each day and how you impact the society.
anyways, work in camp has been tremendous this week with days ending around 11+pm and stuff. its going to be a tougher time ahead, i guess its just time to sit tight and be determined to see this thru. yes, the common understanding is why bother about doing things for NS when you are just drafted, but again i still think this is personal pride and integrity. every journey has a learning journey, rather than hating things, why not just see how it goes and learn from it? yups. that's what i have already decided to do, im not giving it up. neither do i feel obliged to follow the views of any one else.
wednesday was a great day thoughs, the only day that ended much much early. all were allowed to knock off quite early, cause we told OC that we bought tickets for the singapore thailand game at stadium. managed to reach there slightly on time, and got seated in the wonderful wonderful stadium. its the first time i've been there, i must admit, and the atmosphere is tremendous - i can still regret not playing for aj and having a shot at playing in the A div finals in the stadium. anyways, tat aside, the first goal dint take too long to come and the entire crowd was really put into ruptures, screaming and raising their fists into the air so frantically and proudly that singapore took the lead. we were barely seated when the goal came but we just jumped and did everything to celebrate - to celebrate like singaporeans. the first half was exciting and our voices were almost gone. definitely turning out to be a great outing with 7 other crazy campmates. but the thai equaliser came soon after second half to our surprise as from where i was seating, it was clearly a foul on a home player, before a great defence splitting pass from the thai playmaker ensured the much needed goal came. from then on, the thais probed and attacked in waves with singapore on the backseat, trying hard to prevent an upset. the upset never came, but more of a disappointment. disappointment over the attitude of asean players. giving an obviously din-happen-foul penalty, the referee incurred the wrath of the thai players, which subsequently ended up in an impasse where the thai players refused to play the game. up in the stands we really dint know what happened, and all we cud do was wait for 15 minutes before play restarted and singapore scored through the penalty. for once, i felt the national stadium really lacked a proper screen, a screen to show replays and inform the spectators of, at the very least, what is happening on the pitch. i wudnt mind paying 1 more bux per ticket for that damn screen you know. -.- anyways, great day!
